Meet the Termite Lady

It’s not every day you see a woman in the pest control industry, let alone one running a successful termite and pest control company for over 38 years. Unless you meet Susan Fries, owner of ECOLA Services, a pest and termite control company dedicated to alternative treatments.

Prior to entering the industry, Susan worked at Max Factor Cosmetics and in jewelry sales in Canada. She even appeared on the day time show Days of Our Lives; more than a dozen commercials, and won a car for dancing on American Bandstand.

Susan takes pride in her accomplishments: winner of the Los Angeles Daily News BEST termite and pest control company for nine consecutive years (2014-2022), recognized as one of the Top 100 Pest Control Companies in North America by PCT Pest Control Technology, recipient of the 2012 and 2018 Angie’s List Super Service Award, Best Green Exterminator from 2007-2018 by LA Magazine; 2010 Woman In Business award by Business Journal, and Business owner of the Year by the United Chamber of Commerce; and being featured on the History Channel’s Modern Marvels, KTLA News Channel and KCAL9, to name a few.

As a motivational speaker Sue Fries shares her life experiences as a mother struggling to care for a young son that battled with chronic asthma and also as a Christian business woman in a male dominated pest control industry. Sue is always happy to provide her unique perspectives through speaking engagements and appearances

Susan has been hosting a syndicated radio show since 2010 on the Salem radio network dedicated to inspiring and encouraging people. Sue encourages both guests and advertisers alike to participate in her show! Every week Sue hosts interesting guest speakers from all walks of life. Advertisers appreciate the exposure to a unique and truly dedicated audience that spans from San Diego to the Central California coast… Those looking to participate can find more information at

Ms. Fries is an avid competitive dancer and took 5th place in the U.S. Open Swing Dance Competition. Sue also won a national American Bandstand competition in 1978 winning a brand new car. Suffering a horse riding accident that shattered her leg, Sue miraculously is not only walking but able to dance competitively again.

As an accomplished author, Sue’s book Learning to Breath focuses on the importance of managing your indoor air quality and as a result received an honorable mention in the San Francisco Book Festival of 2014. Sue’s book chronicles her own personal struggles to help her son manage a chronic asthma condition and her quest to find alternatives to some of the toxins our homes are exposed to on a daily basis. She is also co-author of The Change.
